A knee injury has ruled Prithvi Shaw out of the remainder of his County stint with Northamptonshire. The 23-year-old suffered the injury while fielding in the One-Day cup fixture against Durham. Subsequent scans have revealed that the injury is much worse than originally expected. He is in contact with the BCCI medical team and will see a specialist in London on Friday (August 18).
It’s a major blow for the youngster, who made a sparkling start in the competition, registering scores of 244 and 125* against Somerset and Durham respectively. His other two scores were 34 and 26 giving him a league-leading tally of 429 runs at the time of his exit.
“In his short stint, Prithvi has made a huge impact on us as a club. It’s a huge shame he won’t be with us for the remainder of this comp,” head coach John Sadler said.
“He’s an extremely humble young man, he’s very respectful and had been so grateful for the opportunity to represent Northamptonshire. As well as his performances on the field he had a huge impact in our dressing room. Nobody wanted to win games more than him and he contributed to us doing so. We wish him well and hope to see him scoring runs again soon.”
